5 worst films of Bollywood 2012 – list so far
There have been many bad films in Bollywood so far this year; here is a list of the worst films of Bollywood in 2012.
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonam Kapoor
It was one of the first films to release this year on 6th January. It was an official remake of The Italian Job. Mostly Bollywood films copy from the west without paying for the rights, but this film took all the rights, rightfully from the makers of the original. Still nothing could save this done to death action-thriller-heist film not even the impressive credentials of Abbas-Mustan who work for their suspense thriller formula in Bollywood who also directed this film. Reportedly, cyber space was rife with this particular joke that Director duo were approached by Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Nitin Mukesh, Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher to do something about their kids’s Bollywood career and look the bad luck, they themselves lost money!
#2 Jodi Breakers
Cast: R. Madhavan, Bipasha Basu, Dipannita Sharma and Omi Vaidya
Bipasha blamed Madhavan for the blooper this film was, Midday reports that she is ready to be a part of its sequel but not if Madhavan is also aboard! While we wonder was not one installment of Jodi-breakers enough that the producer wants to lose money in its sequel too! Jodi Breakers is your typically run of the mill Bollywood romantic-comedy that is actually neither romantic nor comedy. Omi Vaidya featured here too in his stereotyped Chatur Ramlingam mode. This film released with Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya which itself dint do that brisk a business but atleast fared better than the flop JB turned out to be.
#3 London, Paris, New York
Cast: Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari
This film did not work in London, Paris and New York and not even in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Actually this film did not work in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore either. Although due to Ali Zafar, a popular star in Pakistan, it did some good business initially in the country but later the performance dropped. In India its charm could not work although many stars tweeted about the film as ‘one to fall in love with’. Film did good business overseas by raking in $112,000 from Middle East and $ 53,535 from US collections.
#4 Dangerous Ishq
Cast: Karisma Kapoor, Rajneesh Duggal and Jimmy Shergill
This film proved to be dangerous for hopes of revival of Karishma’s days of glory in Bollywood. Her last stint in Bollywood in 2006- ‘Mere Jeevan Sathi’ was a flop too and so was Dangerous Ishq. This film was a Vikram Bhatt, thus till the end we hoped that it may work inspite of the trailers which failed to click. Critics had written the film off as a senseless story- yes it did have that reincarnation angle! Kudos to the guts of the makers who released the movie along with Jannat 2 and Ishaqzaade. Karishma’s performance received positive reviews but the film inevitably flopped with just Rs.3.8 crore it made during the opening weekend.
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Kangna Ranaut, Sameera Reddy and Boman Irani
Lately Priyadarshan has been having no luck with his social comedies, Khatta Meetha flopped and so did Billu but his switching to thriller did not help either as Tezz flopped too. The film got average scores from critics and so it showed in its performance at the box office as it proved to be a disaster worldwide with no collections to boast of from overseas and domestic territories. Unfortunately this film was not Tezz, and breaks were put even before it could accelerate!
