Shocking as it may seem but PM Manmohan Singh might resign from the post of Prime Minister to make way for Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India, if some speculations doing the rounds are to be believed. The big loss Congress has faced in the assembly elections has been touted as the reason for leadership change.
On contrary, NDTV has come up with a story based on sources that says, PM Manmohan Singh is not resigning. He will hold a press conference on Friday but instead of tendering his resignation, he will highlight the achievements of UPA II to prepare favourable grounds for his party Congress ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha elections, NDTV quotes sources as saying.
Odds of PM Manmohan Singh resigning are dismally low:
# Rahul Gandhi has never led from the front. He has not served in any public office so far. At a juncture as crucial as Lok Sabha elections, Congress would not risk installing him as PM. This is too little a time for him to show his work and gain votes.
# Congress might have lost the assembly elections but PM Manmohan Singh cannot be held responsible for all the loss. He is not a natural leader, he is an appointed leader. Instead of PM Manmohan Singh, head of the Congress party should resign from her post. Assembly elections are not on the portfolio of Mr. Prime Minister.
