Congress has taken a brave step by hiring Dentsu for Rs. 500 crores for image rebuilding of Rahul Gandhi. Yes the obscene amount of Rs. 500 crores, only to convince people like us that Rahul Gandhi has a strong stand against corruption. Self-defeating I must say! This amount has been reportedly paid to the Japanese firm Dentsu along with a PR firm which will also take care of his image in social media. The job includes creating interesting debates on his page in social media, providing Rahul Gandhi with a twitter account (His IQ does not permit him to log in and sign up himself eh?) and also showcase his ‘achievements’ in a short film. According to news reports, he is taking personal interest in all these activities, how very thankful am I today as an Indian that Rahul is finally interested in something!
This contract to Dentsu has caused immense irritation to my nerves. Nowhere in the world would have they spent this much to sell a mediocre product only because the product comes with a powerful surname. Still, holding my horses, I definitely want to ask, what is that Rahul Gandhi has achieved at a tender age of 43 that Dentsu wants to polish and present to us? Did we hear him talking when the whole Anna movement was at its peak and one word from him would have mattered a lot? Has he ever taken responsibility for any of the election losses that congress has suffered? Did Congressmen allow their allegedly best bet, Mr. GANDHI to take credit for the loss in UP? And why should PM Manmohan Singh be expected to resign from his post for the electoral no show that Congress has put up in the recent assembly elections when the most celebrated and attributed leader for Congress is Rahul himself.
Now when political parties are anyway run like business houses, this Rs. 500 crores is a great investment. Like anyone who has a little business sense, I would reiterate that this is going to go waste. In order to sell something, you need to have something. It is possible to sell anything with celeb endorsement but I am afraid, Rahul has outgrown that stature too. Now even if a Rajnikanth comes and endorses Rahul, we all know Rajnikanth will lose his faith and respect.
Now that Congress is not undergoing a happy time at all, it could have saved this much money for worse time later. In a country of 1.2 billion people where there are tons of intelligent kids around, it is difficult to justify a leader who needs help from a Japanese firm to stand on his own. Everybody undergoes career crisis and it is time someone says it, if Rahul is not able to bloom in politics, why can’t his mother let him search his true calling? Just saying!
