Before I give you a quick list of most awaited Bollywood Movies of 2012, let me tell you that ‘story’ is the new star. While in 2012 so far most big budget movies with big names like Players, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Agent Vinod failed, success of Kahaani, Paan Singh Tomar, Vicky Donor and Ishaqzaade were pleasant surprises. So which are the most anticipated movies for rest of the year 2012?
#1 Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, by the industry’s biggest production house ‘Yashraj’ and under the direction of Kabir Khan (Kabul Express and New York fame), tops the list. Talk of the town is Salman-Katrina pairing all set to hit the screen, which last shared the screen in Yuvraj. Also to expect from Kabir Khan’s direction is a strong storyline and powerful performances. Both Salman and Katrina have a good chance to prove, they are actors as well. Posters of Katrina with the tagline, ‘the girl who tamed tiger’, her expected action sequences and promising promos, have set the fire on. The film is expected to release on Eid, the slot reserved for this Khan!
#2 Aaamir Khan follows with Reema Kagti’s ‘Talaash’. Aamir Khan will play the role of a police officer long after Sarfarosh, Rani Mukerji will be back on screen after long break and Kareena Kapoor will be playing a prostitute once again after a strong screen performance in Chameli. Though the actors have signed a non-disclosure agreement which means information about the film is highly guarded. Such promising starcast under an effective director, Aamir’s track record of meaningful entertainment and Aamir-Kareena-Rani Mukherji trio, have helped the movie to secure the second position among most awaited movies of 2012. Expected release date is 30th November or 7th December.
3# Chulbul Robinhood Pandey will be back in Dabangg 2, with Laajo-Sonakshi Sinha, to wow the silver screen with his antics once again. Arbaaz Khan is directing the sequel instead of Abhinav Kashyap (Anurag Kashyap’s brother) who directed the first part. The recent success of Rowdy Rathore has raised the expectations from Sonakshi Sinha. The film is awaited both by industry, to see if Salman-Sonakshi can recreate the magic as they did with Dabangg and by the faithful permanent fan base of Salman, as well. Not to forget that Dabangg brought back the ‘moochwala thanedar and gaon ki gori’ concept and proved that Salman Khan is a true star. All the factors rank it third in the list of most awaited Bollywood movies of 2012. Expected release date is December 21.
4# Cocktail seems to wooing the youth already with Tumhi ho bandhu, Daru desi and second hand jawani. Sizzling Deepika Padukone as Veronica and beautiful Diana Penty as Meera, with Saif Ali Khan (who seems to have overcome the Agent Vinod tragedy), promises a platter of entertainment and energy. Saif-Deepika’s last outing onscreen was Love AajKal was not only a big hit, but was also remembered for the awesome onscreen chemistry between them (which allegedly made Kareena insecure). The release date for the movie is 13th July.
#5 Jism 2 is the fifth most awaited Bollywood movie of 2012. It was a difficult choice to make, between Jism 2 starring, Sunny Leone, Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh and Raaz 3 starring Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta. And the winner is, as expected, Jism 2. The appeal of the movie is the sizzling pair of Ranbeep-Sunny, the debut of Sunny Leone, Pooja Bhatt’s directional debut and ofcourse the sensual and mesmerizing memories of Jism. The movie is expected to release on 3rd August.
So this was a list of the most awaited Bollywood movies of 2012. Though it seems that the Khan magic will be dominating the box-office, there is enough space for energy (Cocktail), newcomers (Sunny Leone, Diana Penty) and stories (Jism 2).
